Centralized Access and Management
AVEVA Connect provides a single, unified entry point for all AVEVA cloud services. Through Connect, customers can access every licensed application from one intuitive dashboard. Admins can manage users, groups, and licenses centrally, reducing complexity and improving governance across multiple business units or sites.
Hybrid Cloud Connectivity
Connect bridges on-prem and cloud systems, allowing data to flow securely between existing infrastructures and new SaaS applications. This hybrid approach means organizations can modernize at their own pace. Companies can keep control over mission-critical, on-prem systems like the PI System while extending selected data sets to the cloud for collaboration or advanced analytics.
Sequential Data Store
The Sequential Data Store (SDS) is the time-series backbone of AVEVA Connect. It stores industrial and IoT data efficiently in sequence order, making it ideal for trending, analytics, and historical playback. SDS provides metadata tagging, versioning, and contextualization of data, ensuring accuracy and traceability for critical operational insights.
Data Contextualization and Modeling
Through Assets and Asset Types, AVEVA Connect organizes industrial data in a structured, meaningful way. Connect uses an asset model where Assets represent equipment or processes, and Asset Types define a more generic blueprint. This structure allows consistent modeling between on-prem (AF) and cloud environments (Assets) for easy synchronization and standardization. Asset templates can also be easily configured to show health statuses and map metadata using flexible asset mapping rules.
Real-Time Visualization and Analytics
AVEVA Connect offers integrated trending capabilities. Data can be filtered, analyzed, and compared across time or sites. This allows users to detect anomalies, optimize performance, and make data-driven decisions without needing specialized software. Connect Visualization services is an additional module that provides the ability to show data from a number of data sources. These include AVEVA PI, AVEVA Historian, AVEVA Connect, AVEVA Unified Engineering, and many others. It can show many different categories of data, including time-series, event-based, geospatial, and 2D/3D drawings. Connect Visualization Services also features an AI assistant which enables you to interact with your data in a natural language format. Visualization Services is able to show data in other systems such as PI Vision within the existing dashboards.
Collaboration and Data Sharing
Connect promotes secure collaboration within and outside the organization. Using a feature known as Communities, users can share curated datasets or streams in-place and retain data ownership and control. This data democratization accelerates innovation and enables connected ecosystems. AVEVA has recently forged a partnership with Databricks, resulting in a new capability within AVEVA Connect to share data in Connect with Databricks more seamlessly. AVEVA Connect can now share data in-place with Databricks environments using the Delta Sharing protocol. This feature allows customers the flexibility to continue using Databricks for analytical workloads while continuing to use AVEVA Connect.Open APIs and Extensibility
AVEVA Connect supports an open integration framework that allows external and custom applications to connect in several ways. Examples include REST APIs, OMF (Open Message Format), or GraphQL. This integration provides centralized, cloud-based access to PI data for visualization, AI/ML applications, and cross-site analytics.
Connect to PI (Cloud to On-Prem Integration)
Connect supports “write-back” capability to on-prem PI Servers. This allows insights or AI results generated in the cloud to be pushed back to PI for operational use. This maintains data integrity and governance through secure, role-based access and encryption.
Connect using SignalX
SignalX, a leading OT data integration solution, can help acquire data from many different data sources and send it to AVEVA Connect in a reliable manner. Your data does not need to be in AVEVA PI or another AVEVA solution in order for you to take advantage of the features of AVEVA Connect. Similarly, you can extract data from AVEVA Connect and bring it to other on-premises or cloud endpoints as well, adding an additional layer of flexibility in how you leverage insights gained through AVEVA Connect.
